Doctoral Researcher, university of birmingham
Sahar’s research interests are centered on the printing of non-Latin — specifically Arabic and Indic — scripts. Her thesis focuses on the historical establishment and subsequent development of Punjabi printing in post-war Britain, particularly in Birmingham and the Midlands. The study of these printing communities, their modus operandi and printed outputs, will assist in addressing wider issues relating to how ethnic communities established their own identities, and the role played by print in processes of cultural integration. Additionally, it will pave the way for further research on the topic of non-Latin printing.
