The Currell Collection of Auction Bills

Come and visit the Currell Collection of Auction Bills a pop-up exhibition presenting a selection of the collections 200 property, chattel, posters and handbills from 1783, until the end of the nineteenth century. This collection of printed ephemera has been preserved by Chris Currell , a former Chartered Surveyor, and co-curated by Dr David Osbaldestin at Birmingham City University.

A wider selection of original auction bills will be presented at the event. This is an excellent opportunity to experience a wide variety of jobbing printing and experimental typefaces in person. In addition, experimental work produced by members of the Birmingham Print Club will be displayed during the exhibition, featuring contemporary reinterpretations and collages of typographic material from the collection.

The event is the first in a series of presentations from the collection, aimed at bringing together likeminded scholars, artists, gallerists and collectors, to discuss opportunities for future collaboration.
